An access control system enables controlled access to areas in a physical facility, such as your building, restricted areas, parking gates, etc. Access control components consists of proximity, smart card or multi technology readers and contactless smart cards, proximity or MOCA (Multiapplication Open Card Architecture) contactless cards/badges. A contactless card is a standard-sized plastic card with an embedded integrated chip which has memory and/or microprocessor functionality. With contactless cards, a user simply waves their card/badge in front of a reader to transmit card information to a reader using radio frequency identification (RFID). Contactless cards can also come equipped with a magnetic stripe and are issued seamlessly in the ID issuance system.
